The title of the tool | Simon says… |
The learning objective of the tool | Maintaining mental processes, concentrate |
Target Group | Older people (60+) |
Duration of the Tool | 30 minutes (depending of the number of participants) |
Preparation (Preparation before the implementation, needed materials etc.) | We need a proper space and participants |
Instructions to implement the tool | Participants need to choose one person, who will be Simon. The others must do what they are instructed to do, provided they use the phrase “Simon says” before the command. For example, when he says “Simon says, raise your left hand,” everyone should do it. But if he just says “raise your left hand” instead, then no one should do anything, otherwise you will end up disqualified. |
Skills – SDGs – Key Competences Chart | Skills to support concentration and fast thinking |
Sum Up / Debriefing / Reflection at the end of the implementation | We ask participants if they know the game from before and if they have played it before. In what way did they choose Simon? Did they find the tasks correct and appropriate for all participants? Why yes, why not? Do they find the game good for maintaining concentration and mental health? |
Any tips / suggestions to the trainers for the further implementations | If there is a big space and a lot of participants, you can use speakers. |
